A Response To “Growing Up Unvaccinated”

This is a response to Growing Up Unvaccinated, an article designed to promote vaccines that has been spreading across Facebook.

This article seems to have three purposes:

  • Promote vaccines
  • Discredit natural health and immunity by identifying with it
  • Instill fear which causes doubt

Most things supported by our government, like vaccines, are conveyed through fear instead of any type of logic or understanding. Fear is an easy way to get people to act irrationally, it’s what was behind the bird flu epidemic, e-coli food poisoning, and so many other health “threats”, whether they were realistic or not.

Fear is the first resort of those who cannot prove their case.

Look at Y2K, government bailouts, and wars in the middle east. All of these things that caused us to take action were based on fear, not evidence, science, or logic.

The message is clear, if you don’t do this, then something very bad “might” happen to you because it happened to others.

Here’s the common message with vaccines. “Getting a vaccine is cheap, simple, and harmless. If you don’t get one you’ll carry the next global plague and kill billions of people all by yourself.”

The purpose is to cause doubt which inevitably forces many people into getting the vaccines.

What I don’t like about the article

I felt a lot of the backstory was missing and that certain ideologies were grossly misrepresented. The biggest one is that the author might believe that dieting somehow stops you from getting sick or contracting major illnesses.

Let’s be clear. Eating a healthy diet enhances your immune system. This does not mean and no one has ever claimed that you can eat some apples and go fuck a monkey with aids and walk away clean.

Because of her diet, her immune system was healthier than it would have been which enabled her to fight off the diseases that she did contract without dying. Where some of the people she claims she knew ended up disabled or dead from these diseases, her immune system was able to fight them off. This is why a healthy diet is important.

If you pay attention to pandemics, two types of people usually contract and pass diseases along — the poor and the ultra rich. What they have in common is poor dieting. While the poor are malnourished because they don’t have access to good food if any food at all, the rich have access to too much alcohol and other unhealthy habits.

I consider vaccines an immune system substitute for those who aren’t going to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Without vaccines, the weakest of the herd would die off. I’ll say what no one is brave enough to say — vaccines allow survival of the weakest.

The second thing I don’t like about the article is that healthy people can fight off the pathogens contained in vaccines. This actually defeats the purpose of having a healthy immune system. Vaccines bypass the process of obtaining natural immunity. On top of that, the things found in vaccines that people fear are not naturally occurring pathogens that would normally be encountered in nature.  The things people fear are artificially created chemicals that your body has no way to process or defend against.

Most vaccines also enter the bloodstream directly which bypasses a large portion of the immune system. Many diseases are airborne and normally contracted by inhaling or ingesting them. They go through many stages of filtering and fighting before they have a chance at getting into your bloodstream.

The third thing I really dislike is the way she talks about herd immunity. Herd immunity will never go down with or without vaccines. Let’s pretend for a minute that we live in a world without vaccines.

The idea of herd immunity precedes vaccines by so many hundreds of years that it is offensive to suggest that somehow vaccines are responsible for herd immunity.

With or without vaccines, pathogens attack everyone at the same time. Those with strong immune systems fend off the disease, those without get seriously ill or die. Those that live through the disease have acquired natural immunity toward the disease — resulting in herd immunity.

Brain busting I know, holy shit we have herd immunity without vaccines.

By relying on vaccines, the human population is setting themselves up for a global pandemic. The minute vaccines cannot be produced or delivered, combined with the unhealthy way we eat, will expose a ton of weakened immune systems to strong pathogens. The result will be deaths, probably in the millions, maybe even in the billions.

The movement of anti vacciners is actually led by very intelligent people consisting of doctors, professionals, and lots of research — not ignorant 18-19 year old moms with naive ideas. This article tries to discredit anti-vaccine research without offering any type of evidence whatsoever.

The fourth thing I dislike is the lack of explanation given for what I would consider very key parts of the article. She claims her mom was this hippy that ate a perfect diet and a health nut. So did her mom have vaccinations or did she acquire natural immunity on her own?

Additionally the author seems to have failed to mention that your health and well being is composed of three pillars: mind, movement, and dieting. To obtain optimal health you have to eat right, think right, and move right.

Everyone knows how much stress and depression can affect your health — the same goes for not exercising. If you aren’t healthy in all three areas, then you’re not healthy. It wouldn’t matter if you sat and ate the purest food all day. If you aren’t at peace in your mind and you’re not exercising your body properly then you’re missing out on other nutrients that your body produces through these activities.

My Conclusion

I question whether or not the article is real. It honestly seems like something I could have written if I wanted to promote vaccines. What better way to promote vaccines then by finding a supposed member of the health movement that supports them.

If you like statistics you’ll notice that deaths and complications from some of the diseases she acquired are rare. You’ll also notice that a very small percentage of unvaccinated people actually contract them.

Remember that people die of all kinds of things everyday. In some cases more people die from lightning strikes than some of these diseases she listed — I bet some of you could be convinced to get a lightning vaccine if one existed.

Don’t be scared to say no to vaccines, but don’t just say no to say no. Do your research and make an intelligent decision. Don’t be bullied into getting them because you’re afraid.

About The Author

I’ve been on both paradigms and through a lot in between, for vaccines and against. In my younger years I was a bit of a hypochondriac. I thought if my tetanus vaccine went passed it’s time that I would immediately die of tetanus if I cut myself on metal. This is what fear does.

I went through the Army, received every vaccine (sometimes twice) that common citizens get and some that they don’t. I think to date I am still theoretically immune to Anthrax.

I was medically discharged from the Army and was barely able to put on my shoes because I had such intense back and knee pain. After I got out of the army I studied holistic medicine, naturopathy, and almost every dieting plan. I quickly learned through my research that a lot of my problems were caused by my dieting, specifically inflammatory foods.

My diet was full of sugars and processed foods (I lived off keebler cookies, vault soda, and McDonalds Cheeseburgers for about 3 months before I ended up in the ER).

When I started to change my diet it wasn’t an overnight miraculous cure. I actually started by eating just the sandwiches from McDonalds but then adding more fruits and vegetables. Eventually I morphed into cutting out soda, cutting out fast food, and cut down on junk food with sodium and sugar in it.

Slowly but surely my back started to loosen up and I could actually walk or stand up again for more than 10 minutes at a time without having muscle spasms.

That’s when I decided to dive deep. I got into juicing and switched everything that I ate to completely raw and organic. At one point I cut out meat and cooked foods completely.

The effects were astounding. I was able to hike over ten miles a day in the mountains again. I started to not see myself as the disabled veteran that I had been labeled but instead a regular healthy person again. My mind felt more clear and a lot of my anxiety faded away.

The most noticeable thing was that I didn’t get sick as often and when I did the symptoms were milder than any time in my life I could remember. To me, this was a clear indication that my diet was boosting my immune system and the more active lifestyle I adopted was having a profound effect on my body.

With our diet and lifestyle changes my wife and I, along with our 2 children, ages 4 and 9 at that time, hiked to the highest point of the Rocky Mountains on a 9 mile round trip trail.

I can attest to the effects of what a healthy lifestyle can do for someone — it’s the only reason I’m still alive today. I went from a disabled veteran to an enabled individual in the span of a few years.

I’m going to tell you that it’s scientifically proven that your diet, your physical activity level, and your state of mind determine a large portion of your health, if not all of it. Changing all of these things for the better may not cure something but it is the top thing to do to prevent getting chronic illnesses.

Most chronic illnesses are called preventable, there’s a reason why. It’s not random chance, luck of the draw, or genetics that are at play here for these preventable chronic diseases like cancer, stroke, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

It’s your immune system, your body, and your cells versus dangerous pathogens. It’s a fight that you can win, it’s a battle for survival of the fittest. Mother nature does not take sides in which organism will continue to exist.

Millions upon millions of women in the United States have been found to have the breast cancer gene, but not millions upon millions of women actually contract breast cancer. In fact, the majority don’t.

So I’ll ask you the only question that really matters.

Why would you destroy your chances of survival by intentionally weakening your immune system?
